Eighty20 is an exciting, innovative, and rapidly growing data science and research strategy business. We are currently looking for a data engineer to join one of our analytics project teams. The role will offer you the opportunity to design, develop and implement data pipeline solutions that assist the team of analysts and consultants to address client needs. The candidate should be highly numerate with a keen interest and proven ability in the areas of data management and interrogation.
Most of the data we deal with comes from client systems, not our own. It is therefore incredibly important that the team bringing this data into our environment, is not simply concerned with files, databases and encodings, but is also dedicated to understanding what the data is actually supposed to mean so that we ensure that the data we receive is correct and fit for purpose for downstream analysis.
Competencies and skills required:
- Relevant qualification (minimum bachelor’s degree in mathematics, engineering, computer science, information systems or equivalent)
- SQL (MySQL / Postgres / Vertica / similar)
- Proficient with a Data Processing relevant programming language
- Proficient with a ETL Pipeline tools (e.g. Airflow)
- ETL and DBA skills beneficial
- Linux and Cloud experience beneficial (e.g. AWS)
- Automation scripting beneficial (e.g. bash, cron, rundeck)
- Data exploration and validation
- Excellent problem solver and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and independent worker
